Camping

We started this hot summer with a little mini vacation to Pismo Beach. We started an anual camping trip every year, sans last year because of Ashley's schooling and me being 7 months pregnant with Olive, 2 years ago with our great friends, Ashley and Scott. This was the second annual Asuncion/Goings camping trip. We stayed there for three nights and four days. Our campsite was walking distance to the beach and the weather was beautiful. We went to our usual spot for clam chowder in a bread bowl, Hoagies, and it never lets us down. We spent Thursday afternoon at the beach and although the sun was beating down on us it was quite chilly. The only people that went into the water were Alex and Layla. Alex was like a little kid. He couldn't get enough of the water. He was running into the water and jumping the waves. We only went to the beach because Layla wanted to go badly but I really think Alex was the one that wanted to go. We took a kite out there and some sand toys along with some snacks and we made an afternoon of it.

Since we went to Pismo Beach to camp we didn't just have to stay at the campground. There's a lot of small shops and restaurants to go to. Avila Beach is also about 10 minutes north of Pismo. On Friday we pretty much slummed it so we decided to take a trip to Avila Beach. Whenever we go there we always visit this adorable fruit stand/animal farm. There is local grown fruit and vegetables that you can purchase and they also provide lettuce and apples so kids can feed the animals. It's such a cute little pit stop to go to. At the end we got some ice cream for the road and went back to our campsite.

On our last day we dreaded the packing up and cleaning! Ugh!! Coffee was a must, especially from the previous night of drinking by the campfire. So Scott and I whipped up some breakfast burritos and we started breaking things down. After we were all packed up smelling like campfire smoke and in need of a good shower we went to visit Solvang. Solvang is a little dutch town with little shops and little cute things everywhere. My parents took my all the time when I was a little girl so I was eager to go back and visit.

Camping was a complete success, again. I can't wait to keep the tradition going and venturing out to a new camp spot next year with the family and the Goings.
