What's Got Alex's Attention?

Lately Alex has really been into his very first garden. It's a new hobby he has picked up. He's actually been "window shopping" this hobby for a while now. A very long while. We have been together for a total of 9 years and he has been reading, researching, You Tubing, gardening for about 6 of those years and maybe even talking about his garden for the first 3. No joke. So to me I'm just thinking, "well it's about damn time!" Just kidding. No, but really. Alex is really into his, not our, vegetables he has planted in our backyard. He planted Roma tomatoes, an assortment of chili peppers, and bell peppers. He also planted some cilantro but ended killing it and some how blamed me. We won't go into that.

Now, in his mind these are his little babies. He tends to them everyday and makes sure they are doing just fine. He's out in the backyard watering them, picking at them, and gazing at them. He gets so excited when he sees a little flower growing on one of the leaves and excitedly tells me right away. But regardless they are HIS plants. Well, until they are fully bloomed and ready to be picked then they are mine but just so I can make him salsa!!! Um...I didn't sign up for this. Plus, who even said that I wanted to make salsa with these vegetables? Maybe I want to make some fajitas with the bell peppers or homemade marinara sauce with the tomatoes. He obviously had all this planned before hand.

For months Alex studied this book he got probably, I think, about 3 years ago.

I looked through it and it has a lot of great ideas on how you don't have to spend so much money just to even start your garden. It gives you ideas on what to use around your house so you don't have to go out and spend a gazillion dollars to start out.

Here are a couple of pictures of Alex's garden. He has done such a great job so far and honestly, all joking aside, I can't wait until he picks the "fruits of his labor" so I can make him a mean batch of homemade salsa, extra spicy!
