29

So it happened. I turned 29 on the 16th. I realized that the older you get that your birthday is just another day and that's how I spent most of it. I did though, in fact, ring in my birthday looking a tad different. I mean, I needed to give myself a little present, so I went lighter. My hair, I went lighter with my hair. I've never been blonde so it was time for a change. My sister in law did an awesome job on my hair and it made turning 29 feel a little better.

The little ones and I met up with Alex for lunch at Luigis Italian Restaurant which is ridiculously delicious! They are only open for lunch and always packed. That says something. I had initially told Alex that I did not want anything for my birthday. All I wanted to do was have a fun time hanging out with my friends on the weekend for my birthday brunch. Even though I told him that he took me out for my birthday. Let me say that was such a great gift.

Alex got a babysitter for us and he took me to a nice sushi dinner. His next plan was to take me to a movie and may I remind you that we have not been to the movie theaters in a long time. I mean, long time! I think the last movie was saw together at the theaters was The Avengers and I'm guessing because it's been that long.

So we had some time to kill and went to visit our favorite Batista/friend Andrew at Dagnys and had a nice cold beer and some good chit chat. It was so weird because we felt like it was more of a "date night" then a birthday dinner. It had been 6 months since Alex and I were able to have a nice dinner and have hangout time, date night, and we felt like we needed to rush and hurry home to the girls. It felt nice. In fact it felt so nice that we were 30 minutes late for the movie so we went to BJ's Restaurant for a little more one on one time together before heading home.

*Side Note* I love, love being a mother. It's the best love ever but this birthday made me realize that I am, in fact, grown. I totally took for granted all the times Alex and I had together when it was just him and I. The way my life is right now, I know that it's all about taking care of the 2 little lives Alex and I created and date night is something that doesn't come every weekend. When it does happen though, it is the best time ever. All I know is that once our kids are grown we will be back to where we were when we first got married but there will be an added bonus with having our kids there with us. Alex ended up giving me a great gift that night.*

I ended my birthday celebration with my great friends that weekend. I was able to let loose and have fun with them. Bottomless mimosas and lots of laughter were on the menu. It's so great to be able to celebrate with true friends.
